Some Recent Adventures

Its been a while since my last post and we have been busy. Near the end of June, Mandy Grace and I joined most of Mandy's family at McCormick Creek State Park hiking and sight seeing. We all met in Spencer, Indiana at the MacDonald's for lunch and then went to the park. Once in the park, our first stop was at McCormick Creek Falls. After the falls, we drove up to the Wolf Cave hiking trails. We hiked for about a mile and a half to the small cave which was pretty interesting. McCormick Creek State Park is know through out the state for its "water created" sights. Through out the park, there are falls, caves and sink holes.

On July 2, Mandy, Grace, our friend Melissa and her daughter Summer went to the Greencastle Public Pool and spent most of the day there having a good time. Grace especially had a good time swimming and playing with Summer who is the same age as Grace. Mandy and Grace both returned home with pretty good sunburns.

On July 4, Mandy and Grace went to southern Indiana to Holiday World for a family reunion. On the first day, they walked the park and the rode the typical amusement park rides. Grace, being especially ford of the carousel, rode it 4 times. On July 5, everyone walked the water park inside Holiday World. Mandy and Grace enjoyed the lazy river and the wave pool. They came home late that night tired and even more burned, but they had a good time.
As a side note, I remember seeing a picture at my grandparents house of my dad standing in front of a sign that read "Santa Clause Land...Santa Clause, Indiana", Holiday World is the same park.

On July 11, Mandy, Grace, Dylan and I went to the Owen County Fair In Spencer Indiana. We were join by Mandy's Aunt Teresa and Uncle Pete who live in Spencer. Once at the fair, the first place we headed to was the barn so that Grace and Dylan could see and pet a variety of farm animals. They got to see and pet goats, pigs, cows, horses, sheep rabbits, ducks, and roosters. After seeing the animals, went to the food booths for dinner. From there, we went to the midway to let the kids play some games. The very first game that Dylan and Grace wanted to play was a ring toss. It was one of those seemingly impossible to win games where the object is to toss a ring a large distance and for the ring to go over the neck of a plastic duck. The prize if you win is a caged bunny. Dylan, on his first throw almost won. Dylan and Grace did win prizes and two other games and were happy campers. After leaving the fair, we went back to Teresa and Pete's house to give Grace and Dylan a chance to wade in the swimming pool. It wasn't long after this that both kids were fast asleep.

Mandy and I are looking forward to July 29 when we go back to the doctor to find out the sex of the baby. We are both hoping for a girl.

Graduation party and doctor's visit

On Sunday morning i picked up the boys from their mother so they could go to Mandy's brothers graduation party. Mandy and the boys left Greencastle for Indianapolis at around 11 AM and the party began at 2 PM. The boys and Grace had a lot of fun playing with other kids at the party as well as with all of the toys in the yard. Dylan and Jonathan were able to meet many members of their new family, such as Mandy's Aunt Theresa, cousin Jackson, Michelle, and many others.

Today Mandy and I went to her OB/GYN appointment to see how the new baby was doing. Mandy has been having some complications with bleeding. The doctor did an ultra sound and an noticed that the placenta was laying a little low, which is the source of the bleeding, but all still looked good. The baby is healthy and the heartbeat was at a normal rate. He again confirmed that she was 15 weeks pregnant and that the baby's due date is 11/25 of this year. He told her to take it easy and no lifting at work. He wasn't able to determine the sex yet. Mandy and I have decided that if its a girl, that her name will be Dakota Mackenzie, and if its a boy, his name will be Caleb Michael Thomas.

College Bound

I figured i would let every one know officially today that i will be going back to school in the fall of 2008. I have been accepted to the University of Maryland University College, which is an off shoot of the University of Maryland. I have decide to major in legal studies with a history minor, in hopes of graduating and becoming a paralegal. I received my financial aid package yesterday, which was enough to cover my classes, fees and books. Mandy has been a real inspiration to me with her continued education and is one hundred percent behind me on my decision to go back to school. I will keep everyone updated on my progress.

A trip to the zoo

Yesterday, I went and picked Dylan and Jonathan up from their mother for an exciting trip to the Indianapolis Zoo. The boys spent the night with Mandy and I and were woke up for the zoo excursion at 6:30 this morning. Unfortunately, I had to work today and could not go, but that didn't stop Mandy, Grace and the boys from having a good time. The family left the house at around 8 am and arrived at the zoo at around 9:30, after a pit stop to pick up Mandy's mom and dad, her sister Jordan, her brother Charlie and his girlfriend Leslie.

Once at the zoo, everyone had a good time. The kids got to see all sorts of animals, including: elephants, polar bears, penguins, giraffes and reptiles. The kids also enjoyed the Merri-go-round and slides at the zoo. Jordan had a lot of fun with Jonathan and Dylan refused to leave Grandpa Munas' side.

Everyone left the zoo at 12:30 pm and Mandy drove back to Greencastle, arriving back home at 1:30 pm. She arrived home to a van load of very tired kids who fell asleep shortly after they left the zoo. All in all the kids had quite the adventure and everyone had a great time.

Introduction

After some thought, I decided that it would be fun to create a blog for my family. One that is geared towards our family and friends, but acessible to anyone on who wanted to take the time to read and look at it. The blog will include and recent pictures that Mandy and I may have taken of our family as well as any recent updates and/or adventures our family has taken recently. If you so choose, you can also leave us comments.
